Hey there!
I’m Meghan, the MNBibliophile/author! You can reach me directly at meghan.hatalla@proton.me
Books are kind of my thing. I tried to hide it – like lying on my Book It calendar (who, me, read over an hour a day?!) – but now I’m embracing it. And I don’t regret a single one of those personal pan pizzas.
I started writing as a kid, mostly mirrored whatever I was reading at the time. Baby-Sitters Club, Sweet Valley twins, American Girl series, I ready anything and everything. My tastes moved to the other end of the spectrum, and I read more Stephen King, Christopher Pike, RL Stine, Clive Barker, and horror in general.
You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.
Madeleine L’Engle
Nowadays, I’ve more or less settled in the middle of the spectrum. I still read just about anything, and bring this wealth of knowledge into my writing.

Adult Life
As an adult, I shifted away from writing. I tried freelance writing as a career, but the constant hustle, uncertainty, and most of all, the need for insurance and money made it an untenable proposition. I got a Masters degree in tech writing and shifted into user experience.
We fill in the gaps. We find stories in every little moment and gather them up readily. We imagine that the unknown isn’t the worst scenario and we try to make sense of the senseless. We look for the silver linings and the whys and what-if and what-should-have-beens. We try to solve the puzzle, pieces scattered through time and space and the deepest corners of our memories.

I married and had a baby, and then the pandemic hit in March 2020. The pandemic brought a lot of things to the forefront, and one of them was an unwillingness to put aside my own desires and dreams for the future. And writing was a big part of that.
